Impact in Nature:

We really believe that nature is the biggest asset. We never act any kind of activities against nature. Our total team fully trained and awaked of possible impact in environment due to the unregulated tourism activities.  Thus, we discharge our duties very seriously towards preservation of nature as well. Especially for tented camp trekking and expeditions, we always use kerosene to cook with, and our rubbish is well disposed, or carried out all with us as per the regulations. This leads us toward the responsible and minimal impact of our activities to nature, and helps it to exist in its natural splendor.

 Local Community Contribution:

Asiana Nepal Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. aims to invest its certain portion of profit for charitable causes. We are planning to sponsor some of the villages in Mountain region for some development programs and natural preservation activities. Such as; training and awareness programs for anti-migration movement, sustainable water and natural resources, organic farming, education and sustainable village tourism. Drinkable water supply and community health services are also in our priority for possible donation. Especially we prefer to contribute in capacity building to the local people in our trekking route or to the mountain-resided people.

Staff and Porters Care:

Our guides, Sherpas, Porters and all staff in office and field are fully paid and insured.  We provide sufficient equipment and emergency rescue services even by helicopters if necessary during trekking and mountaineering. We provide them regular remuneration and bonuses. We also offer them capacity building training and development opportunity to enhance their personality by time to time.

We operate our trekking and expedition trips according to the guidelines of International Porter Protection Group (IPPG) as below:

  • Clothing appropriate to season and altitude must provide to porters for protection from cold, rain and snow. This may means: windproof jacket and trousers, fleece jacket, long johns, suitable footwear (leather boots in snow), socks, hat, gloves and sunglasses.
  • Above the tree line porters should have a dedicated shelter, either a room in a lodge or a tent (the trekkers’ mess tent is no good as it is not available till late evening), a sleeping pad and a blanket (or sleeping bag). They should provide with food and warm drinks, or cooking equipment and fuel.
  •  Porters should be provided with the same standard of medical cares as you would expect for yourself, and life insurance.
  • Porters should not pay off because of illness/injury without the leader or the trekkers assessing their condition carefully. The person in charge of the porters (Sirdar) must let their trek leader or the trekkers know if a sick porter is about to be paid off. Failure to do this has resulted in many deaths. Sick/injured porters should not send down alone, but with someone who speaks their language and understands their problem, along with a letter describing their complaint. Sufficient funds should provide to cover cost of rescue and treatment.
  • No porter should be asked to carry a load that is too heavy for their physical abilities (maximum: 20 kg on Kilimanjaro, 25 kg in Peru and Pakistan, 30 kg in Nepal). Weight limits may need to be adjusted for altitude, trail and weather conditions; experience is needed to make this decision.
